Kevin Durant was listed as questionable for Tuesday night’s Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a right knee contusion, leaving the Houston Rockets waiting on one of their biggest questions as the first-round series returned to Los Angeles. The game was set to tip off at 10:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
The Rockets entered the night trying to avoid an 0-2 hole after losing Game 1 on Saturday, and Durant’s status carried extra weight because he had already sat out that defeat. If he did not play again, it would have been his second straight playoff absence.
Houston was already dealing with more than one missing piece. Fred VanVleet was ruled out while continuing to recover from a torn ACL suffered in the offseason, and Steven Adams will miss the rest of the season while he recovers from ankle surgery.
The combination left Houston thin at a moment when the margin in a best-of-seven series was already shrinking. Game 2 was not just about whether Durant could suit up; it was about whether the Rockets could keep the series from slipping away before it moved on.
