is set to launch on April 30, and says the game is built to push PlayStation 5 hardware while showing off what the console can do. detailed the PS5 and PS5 Pro features on Tuesday, including a sharper image pipeline, 60 fps play and updated audio and controller support.

The PS5 Pro version uses the new upscaler released in March, with Housemarque saying the updated support delivers an image that is even sharper and difficult to distinguish from native 4K. said the studio increased the base render resolution before upscaling on PS5 Pro, which gives players a clearer higher-resolution image at 60 fps, while dynamic resolution is used to keep frame rates stable during hectic combat.

Halonen also said Saros on the standard PS5 already looks incredible and runs at rock solid 60 fps, but the Pro version pushes the graphics further. On PS5 Pro, the game adds small adjustments in reflections and overall quality, while key story cinematics switch to 30 fps and render characters, lighting and postprocessing at peak resolution.

The launch also ties Saros to some of the same hardware features Housemarque used to define Returnal. The game uses evolved 3D audio for PlayStation 5 with , letting players hear the lost Carcosa, hostiles and music all around them with 3D audio headphones or a compatible sound setup. It also uses haptic feedback in a detailed way, and Housemarque said the game makes the most of the PS5’s ultra high-speed SSD.

The friction point is the split between what the two consoles can deliver. PS5 owners get a 60 fps experience that Housemarque says already looks excellent, but PS5 Pro players get the sharper image and extra visual polish the studio says it wanted for its showcase title. That makes April 30 less of a simple release date than a test of how far Saros can stretch Sony’s hardware pitch without sacrificing speed.
