Patrick Brammall will step onto the Sydney red carpet on Tuesday, April 28, when The Devil Wears Prada 2 gets its Australian premiere at the State Theatre.
The AACTA and Logie-winning Australian star plays the love interest of Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs in the sequel, and his appearance in Sydney marks a fresh push for a film that is already drawing attention for its returning cast and new arrivals.
Brammall’s casting was announced last year, and the part is his first big-screen role since the 2018 action-horror film Overlord. Since then, he has largely stayed on the small screen, including work on the award-winning comedy Colin From Accounts, while this sequel returns him to one of Hollywood’s most recognizable fashion franchises.
The new film picks up with Miranda Priestly dealing with the decline of print journalism and trying to keep her footing in a dying industry. She also faces off against Emily Blunt’s character, her former assistant, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group. David Frankel is back to direct, Aline Brosh McKenna returns to write, and Wendy Finerman is again producing, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and McKenna executive producing.
Not everyone from the first film is coming back. Adrian Greener from Entourage is not returning for the sequel, while the cast list adds Rachel Bloom, Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, Caleb Hearon and Lady Gaga. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman are among the returning actors, and Sydney Sweeney was among the cameos that were cut.
The sequel is scheduled for release in Australian cinemas by 20th Century Studios on April 30, 2026, giving Brammall’s Sydney appearance an early promotional spotlight more than a year before audiences see the film on screen.
