Instead, the margin stayed alive and City walked away with a result that strengthens the sense that they still know how to handle the biggest fixtures. Murphy also contrasted Sunday’s intensity with Arsenal’s home loss to Bournemouth last week, saying City away is the sort of match where players know they have to be at it, unlike a sunny afternoon against Bournemouth at home.
That contrast may matter more than the scoreline itself. Arsenal matched City for long stretches and created enough to win, but the absence of a killer touch and the failure to turn pressure into points left them exposed in the one contest that was supposed to define their week. For City, the result was the kind that shapes a title run; for Arsenal, it was another reminder that the man city fixtures at the top end leave no room for hesitation.
