The Oklahoma City Thunder will host the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday for Game 2 of their Round 1 playoff series, carrying a 1-0 lead after a lopsided opening win. Oklahoma City beat Phoenix 119-84 on Sunday and can move another step closer to the second round with a second straight home victory.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 25 points and seven assists in Game 1, while Jalen Williams added 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Oklahoma City led by as many as 39 points, turning the game into a runaway before the fourth quarter could matter.
Devin Booker scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds for Phoenix, and Dillon Brooks finished with 18 points on 6-of-22 shooting. The Suns shot 35% and turned the ball over 19 times, numbers that left them chasing from the start and exposed how far they have to go to get the series back on track.
That gap matters because this is only the first round, and Wednesday’s Game 2 now gives the Thunder a chance to turn a strong start into real separation in the series. Thomas Sorber is out for Oklahoma City with a torn ACL, while Phoenix listed Mark Williams as questionable with a foot metatarsal stress reaction, Grayson Allen as questionable with a hamstring strain and Jordan Goodwin as questionable with calf soreness.
The Thunder have already done the hard part by taking control at the outset. If they defend home court again, the Suns will head back with the pressure of trying to solve a matchup that has already gone badly wrong.
