Bleacher Report analyst Alex Kay has floated a trade that would send Kayvon Thibodeaux to the Dallas Cowboys, a move that would test how far the Giants are willing to go as the 2026 draft approaches. He also said New York general manager Joe Schoen should at least answer the phone if Dallas calls.
Kay’s proposal calls for the Giants to get some of the Cowboys’ extra draft capital in return, especially picks in Days 2 and 3. It is a sharp idea for a team that has spent the last couple of months of the offseason in draft-day trade rumors and is still trying to map out its board.
Thibodeaux is the name at the center of the discussion because his future on the Giants’ defensive front has come into question after two off years on the gridiron. That makes him one of the more interesting pieces in any broader roster conversation, even as the franchise has another major chip from its recent dealings.
The Dexter Lawrence deal sent the 28-year-old disgruntled defensive tackle to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 10th overall pick, giving the Giants a chance to grab two elite prospects early. But Schoen still has holes on both sides of the ball to address as the draft rolls along, which is why the front office continues to be linked to all kinds of scenarios.
Even so, a deal with Dallas would be highly unlikely. The rivalry alone makes that kind of transaction hard to picture, and the idea of moving a prominent edge rusher across the division is the sort of move that sounds better in a mock than it does in a real war room. For now, Thibodeaux remains part of the Giants’ puzzle, but the questions around him are not going away any time soon.
