LEGO has revealed a Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots Icons set that leans squarely into display-first nostalgia, opening exclusive pre-orders on April 23, 2026 for the 1,403-piece build numbered 72423. The set is scheduled to ship June 1 and is priced at $129.99 in the United States, £109.99 in the United Kingdom and €119.99 in Europe.
The centerpiece is three familiar characters rendered in two different ways: Shrek and Donkey are built figures, while Puss in Boots arrives as a minifigure with a sword, cape and feathered hat. LEGO’s official images show no stickers, only printed details, and the swamp scene includes an onion, a waffle and an eyeball tucked inside Shrek’s belly, along with a warning sign that reads BEWARE OGRE. LEGO also revealed a Shrek BrickHeadz on the same day.
The new set is part of the LEGO Icons line, which carries the usual 18+ recommendation and is aimed primarily at adult fans. At 9.3 cents per piece, it lands in the range collectors will recognize for licensed display models rather than play sets, and LEGO described it as a display piece. The company is also celebrating Shrek’s premiere with the release, tying the launch to a character whose appeal stretches well beyond the original film audience.
That positioning helps explain why this reveal landed now. Rumors had pointed to a possible LEGO Shrek Collectible Minifigure Series, but LEGO went in a different direction and chose a larger build instead. The set will remain exclusive to LEGO until August, when it is scheduled to appear at other retailers, giving the company a head start with fans who want the first run rather than waiting for wider availability.
For collectors, the answer to the headline question is simple: this is not a one-off tease or a rumor that never materialized. Shrek Legos are real, they are dated, priced and ready for pre-order, and the first chance to buy them is now.
