Ella Langley turned her Stagecoach debut into a surprise Friday evening when she brought out comedian Theo Von instead of the Morgan Wallen cameo many in the crowd had been expecting. After songs including “Bottom of Your Boots,” “Broken” and “20-20,” Langley told the crowd it was “story time,” then introduced Von in a denim shirt, jeans and a straw cowboy hat.
Von stepped in for Riley Green’s verse on “You Look Like You Love Me,” and the pair sang the chorus together. Von delivered the line, “And that’s when I realized that she was every cowboy’s dream come true,” before Langley sent him off with, “Bet you didn’t expect that… Keep ’em guessin’!”
The guest turn fit a busy stretch for Langley, who moved to Nashville in 2019 and broke through five years later with “You Look Like You Love Me.” The song went on to win Song of the Year at the 2025 CMA Awards, and earlier this year her single “Choosin’ Texas” reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts at the same time, making her the first woman to do that. “Choosin’ Texas” has also spent seven nonconsecutive weeks atop the Hot 100.
Von’s appearance came after Langley recently appeared on his podcast, and her Stagecoach set leaned on the songs that have defined her rise, including tracks from Dandelion and Still Hungover before closing with “Choosin Texas” and “Weren’t for the Wind.” That momentum now carries into next month’s Academy of Country Music Awards, where Langley is up for seven awards, making the surprise at Stagecoach less a detour than a reminder of how quickly she has become one of country’s most closely watched names.
