says his first acting job on CBS's spinoff came the old-fashioned way: he had to audition for it. Green appears on the 2026 TV schedule as Garrett, Kayce's friend and a former SEAL Team member, and he said he was glad the show made him read for the part.

The country singer said it was easier to read with on set, and Grimes helped him through the process. Green said he even saw Grimes joke in an interview about making him read, but he did not take it as a slight. Instead, he said it felt like the production was telling him, in effect, that he was good enough for the role.

That mattered to Green because he did not want to be handed a part for reasons tied to his music career. He said he wanted to earn it if he could, adding that he knows he skipped several steps by landing such a big first acting job, but was grateful for the opportunity.

Marshals is a Yellowstone spinoff on CBS, and Green's episode serves as his introduction to the series. The role could also grow from there, with Garrett potentially becoming a bigger presence in the show. Green's casting sits in a familiar lane for CBS, which has also used country stars in , where was offered his part and Kane Brown's role was written specifically for him.

For Green, the bigger point is the one he kept coming back to: he wanted the job to be something he earned, not something awarded because he already had a name in country music. That makes his audition less of a footnote than the reason the part now feels like a real beginning instead of a cameo.
