Netflix will remove Peter Rabbit from its platform on Saturday, May 16, 2026, ending a streaming run for the 2018 family comedy that turned Beatrix Potter’s classic tale into a box-office hit. The live-action and CGI film, which includes Margot Robbie as the voice of Flopsy, will no longer be available to stream beginning that day.
Directed by Will Gluck and co-written with Rob Lieber, Peter Rabbit is set in Britain’s Lake District and follows the title character’s long-running feud with Mr. McGregor. After Mr. McGregor dies, his nephew Thomas takes over the manor and blocks the paths the animals use to get in, while Bea falls in love with Thomas. Rose Byrne plays Bea, Domhnall Gleeson plays Thomas, and James Corden voices Peter Rabbit.
The film opened in the United States on February 9, 2018, and went on to gross $351.5 million worldwide against a $50 million budget, even as critical reaction was mixed. Rotten Tomatoes gives it 64% from critics and 56% from audiences, while Metacritic lists a critic score of 51 and a user score of 6.4. The sequel, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, followed in May 2021 but was less commercially successful.
For viewers, the expiration is straightforward: if Peter Rabbit is on a watchlist, it has until May 16 to be seen on Netflix. After that, the title’s next stop will have to come somewhere else.
