Apple TV has set Aug. 5, 2026, for the global debut of the fourth season of Ted Lasso, with the comedy returning with one episode before new installments arrive each Wednesday through Oct. 7. Jason Sudeikis stars in and executive produces the series, and Ted is headed back to Richmond in the new season.
The new run sends Ted to coach a second division women’s football team, widening the show’s world while keeping the character that made it a breakout hit at the center. Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift are all back, with Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely joining the cast.
The premiere date matters because Ted Lasso is not just any returning series. The first three seasons are already streaming globally on Apple TV, and the show broke records after its global debut. Its first season became the most Emmy Award-nominated comedy series, and the first two seasons won back-to-back Outstanding Comedy Series Emmys.
Apple TV also said Jack Burditt is joining as executive producer under a new overall deal with the service, a sign the company is still building around one of its defining titles. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, and is based on the preexisting format and characters from NBC Sports.
The jump to a women’s team gives the new season a built-in change of pace, but it also raises the question the show itself will have to answer: how far can Ted Lasso stretch while staying the thing viewers recognized at the start? Apple’s answer is to keep the core ensemble, add fresh faces and put Ted back on the sideline, where the character works best.
