Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have welcomed their third child, a son named Nautas Madden, the couple said in an Instagram post shared early Monday, May 4. Madden said he and Diaz were “Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED” to announce the birth.
The guitarist also said the pair’s children are “healthy&happy,” and Diaz answered his post with a string of heart emojis and sparkles. The new baby joins daughter Raddix, 6, and son Cardinal, 2, in the family they built after marrying in January 2015.
Madden said the name Nautas comes from the Latin word nauta, meaning sailor, navigator or voyager, and refers to someone who sets out on a journey without fearing the unknown. That choice fits a family that has kept much of its private life offstage even as Diaz has become more open about what motherhood changed for her.
She said in January 2025 that becoming a parent altered how she sees her Hollywood career, adding that she never made a movie before with a family. The timing matters because Diaz had already returned to acting in Back in Action after a 10-year absence, and the new baby arrives just as she is living a very different version of that career than the one she left behind.
The couple first announced daughter Raddix’s arrival in early January 2020, after welcoming her via surrogate in December 2019, and they shared Cardinal’s birth in March 2024. Monday’s post makes the latest addition clear: Diaz and Madden’s family is now five, and the child they welcomed at the start of May is a boy named Nautas Madden.
