Kristen Bell made her first appearance as Mrs. Claus in new Violent Night 2 footage shown at CinemaCon, giving fans a look at where Tommy Wirkola is taking his outlandish Santa saga next. The preview opens with a nod to “Big Nick Energy,” then sends David Harbour’s Santa down a darker path: he has landed on his own Naughty list and, in the film’s premise, has forgotten the meaning of Christmas.
The footage also showed Santa throwing punches with Cookie Cutter Brass Knuckles and included AEW star MJF, pushing the sequel further into action-comedy territory. Wirkola introduced his version of Santa in 2022’s Violent Night, which became one of the true sleeper hits of the year, and the follow-up keeps Harbour in the suit while leaning harder into classic Westerns with an R-rated edge.
That shift matters because it suggests the sequel is not trying to simply repeat the first film’s formula. Instead, Violent Night 2 appears to be stretching the same bruised, bloodied holiday setup into something broader, with Bell’s Mrs. Claus now in the mix and Santa facing a crisis that is personal as well as physical. Violent Night 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 4, 2026.
The unanswered question is whether that Western-inspired turn can keep the sequel feeling fresh without losing the ugly, funny punch that made the first movie work. The answer will not come from CinemaCon footage, but the new preview made one thing clear: this is no routine return to the North Pole.
