That workload comes as Enrique wants to rest some regular starters because of PSG’s upcoming schedule, which makes Zaïre-Emery’s place on the team sheet stand out even more. At 8 years old when he joined PSG, he has gone from academy prospect to the club’s most used player this season, and the numbers show how hard it has been for anyone else to dislodge him.

PSG’s decision on Sunday will say plenty about how far Enrique is willing to push one of his most reliable players before the calendar tightens again. For now, Zaïre-Emery looks less like a young midfielder being eased into the elite than the player PSG lean on when they most need certainty.
