Paige Adams, the basketball coach at Cold Springs High School, was arrested after resigning from the school in a case that includes 32 counts tied to alleged sexual contact with a student under 19 years old. The charges include having sex or deviant sexual intercourse with a student and 30 additional counts of distributing obscenity to a student.
The Cullman County Board of Education approved Adams' resignation at a special meeting on March 25. Shane Barnette said the resignation followed an investigation into a complaint filed against Adams, and she was removed from the school premises during that investigation.
Authorities said no further information would be released because the case remained open, leaving the central facts fixed but the wider record still incomplete. What is clear is that Adams is no longer at Cold Springs High School and now faces a criminal case that could carry serious consequences well beyond the school gym.
