A$ Rocky turned up at Chanel’s cruise 2026/27 show in Biarritz on Tuesday with a bag that carried more than fashion cachet. Hanging from the chain strap of a bubblegum pink Chanel maxi flap bag were a pair of tiny ballet flats for his 7-month-old daughter, Rocki Irish.
The tweed-trimmed bag was a personal gift from Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy, and Rocky said outside the show that he planned to pass the miniature shoes on to his daughter. “It’s a gift from Matthieu. He’s so thoughtful,” he told WWD, adding, “I’m gonna give these to my daughter.”
Blazy was showing his first cruise collection for the French house in a town with deep Chanel history. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel opened her first couture house in Biarritz in 1915, and Chanel has said it was there that “the Chanel style took shape.” The setting gave the show a built-in sense of return, and Rocky was part of the front-row mix alongside Michaela Coel, Tilda Swinton and Nicole Kidman.
The appearance also marked another step in the public rollout of Rocky and Rihanna’s youngest child. Earlier this month, Rocki Irish made her first public appearance in head-to-toe Dior, and Rocky recently reacted to her W magazine cover with Rihanna by calling it “quite something” and saying he was still processing it. That reaction, paired with Tuesday’s Chanel outing, showed a father still openly leaning into the moment while the fashion world watched the family arrive in full view.
For Chanel, the image landed exactly where the house wanted it: at the meeting point of legacy, celebrity and a new designer’s first statement in cruise. For Rocky, who is 37, it was simpler than that. He left Biarritz carrying a gift that was already headed for his daughter.
