Marvel Studios is keeping the Avengers: Doomsday trailer off the internet after screening it exclusively for CinemaCon audiences this month, but the wait for a wider look may not be long. Daniel Richtman said the new trailer is coming “soon,” though he did not give a date and said it likely would not be shown at CCXP Mexico.
The latest rumor from The Beyond Reporter points to late May, with the trailer possibly attached to the theatrical release of The Mandalorian and Grogu and held back from online release for a period of time. That would mean fans may have to buy a ticket for that film if they want to see the new Avengers: Doomsday footage before it turns up anywhere else.
The setup is unusual, but it fits the way Marvel has started this campaign early for a film that is still not scheduled to reach theaters until Christmastime. There were hopes that the CinemaCon trailer would be released online after the presentation, yet Marvel has kept it exclusive so far, turning a short teaser into the center of a much longer wait.
That leaves the basic question answered for now: the trailer is not online, and the next likely window is late May, not CinemaCon. If the theater-only plan holds, the first public glimpse of Avengers: Doomsday may come bundled with The Mandalorian and Grogu rather than on Marvel’s social channels, which would make the rollout as much a ticket-selling move as a marketing one.
