A semi-retired writer from Waldorf claimed a $100,000 top prize on a 50X the Cash scratch-off ticket bought at in Waldorf on April 24.

The winner first bought four $5 scratch-off tickets that did not pay off, then picked up two 50X the Cash tickets. The first one also came up empty. The second showed a 10X symbol and a $10,000 prize symbol, turning a $10 ticket into a $100,000 win.

The winning ticket was purchased at Giant, 3297 Crain Highway, and the store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling it. The winner checked the ticket on the Maryland Lottery website before signing the back, a step that locked in the prize claim.

The 50X the Cash game launched in January with nine $100,000 top prizes, and four of those prizes remained unclaimed in the latest update. Seven $50,000 prizes were also still out there, a reminder that the game still has major payouts left even after this Waldorf win.

The winner plans to put part of the money toward home remodeling and savings, and is also considering an overseas trip. The Maryland Lottery says her identity will stay private unless she chooses to go public, which means the winner behind this lucky ticket remains unnamed for now.

What makes the timing matter is simple: the top prizes are still on the board, and this win shows that the remaining ones are still in play. For players still holding 50X the Cash tickets, the next big payout has not been claimed yet.
