Pokémon Pokopia has kicked off a camping-and-treasure-hunting event starring Sableye, and the order is simple: gather red crystal fragments and trade them for rewards. The event, titled Sableye's Gem Hunt, runs from April 29 at 5 a.m. until May 14 at 4:59 a.m. based on Nintendo Switch 2 console time, and players can time travel to it freely.
Players who open the game are met with a notice saying a Pokémon is the talk of the town and are directed to a Pokémon Center. That is where Sableye appears, decked out in shiny jewels and registered in the event Pokédex, telling players it is in the market for red crystal fragments. Once inside, Sableye sets up shop and offers treasure and camping decor in exchange for the crystals, making the Pokémon Center the center of the whole run.
To take part, players must already have a Pokémon Center built. From there, they can head to one of Drifloon's Dream Islands, where the ground is littered with red crystal chunks. Rock Smash breaks the chunks into fragments, with each crystal dropping four fragments. On one Dream Island trip, the article's authors collected 56 crystal shards, but the full shop still takes 64 fragments to buy at least one of everything.
The rewards lean both practical and decorative. The sleeping bag can be used as a bed, the camping cooking pot can be used to cook soup, and the tent kit puts up a little tent. Building that tent takes 20 twine, 20 vine rope and 20 iron ingots, plus a Build Pokémon, a Search Pokémon and two more buddies. It also takes one hour to finish, and the finished tent can house one Pokémon.
There is one more wrinkle for players who want duplicates. They can take photos of items and use the 3D printer to make more, at a cost of 2 rare Pokémetal per item. The setup makes Sableye's Gem Hunt feel closer to the earlier Hoppip event than to a one-off giveaway: players are sent to a location, told what to collect, and then left to decide how far they want to go. This time, the answer is clear enough. The event is about farming fragments, but it is also about turning those fragments into camping gear before May 14 at 4:59 a.m.
