Brentford and West Ham meet with the numbers pointing in opposite directions. Brentford have won three of their four Premier League home games against West Ham, but they are also winless in their last nine home league London derbies, while West Ham have taken seven of the nine league meetings between the clubs and scored in all of them.
Jarrod Bowen arrives two assists away from becoming the first West Ham player to reach 50 Premier League assists, and he has seven assists in his last seven games. That form matters because West Ham are two points clear of the relegation zone after collecting 22 points from their last 13 Premier League games, a run that has kept pressure off the bottom despite their inconsistent season. Brentford, though, have won just two of their last 15 Premier League London derby matches, and both of those victories came against West Ham.
The fixture has still carried a familiar edge in west London. Brentford last won a home league London derby by beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in August 2024, and the only exception in their home record against West Ham was last season's 1-1 draw. West Ham, meanwhile, have conceded in every one of their nine Premier League matches against Brentford, a pattern that has made this a stubbornly open contest for them even when they have had the upper hand overall.
There is also a sharp individual contrast in the attacking numbers. Igor Thiago has scored 21 Premier League goals this season, but only one of them has come in a London derby, and his conversion rate in those matches stands at 5%. Against non-London teams, he has been far more efficient, scoring 20 goals from 55 shots. That split gives Brentford a useful weapon and a warning at the same time: their leading scorer has delivered all season, just not yet in the games that matter most for local bragging rights.
West Ham have their own late-game specialist. Callum Wilson has scored three Premier League goals when starting for the club this season, and all three have come in the first half. His three substitute goals have all arrived in the 90th minute, and his last two were winning goals off the bench against Spurs and Everton. He is one of only three players to score two 90th-minute winning substitute goals in a Premier League campaign, which is exactly the sort of detail that can decide a derby that has already refused to settle into a pattern.
The concern for Brentford is that a strong home record against this opponent has not translated into broader stability in London derbies, and they are still winless in their last six Premier League home games. West Ham have the better recent league return and the more dangerous late substitute option, but they have also gone nine league meetings with Brentford without a clean sheet. That leaves both sides with a clear route to victory and a clear reason to worry.
