has pushed back after saying she was left out of most of the promotion for , the upcoming film in which she reunites with . She said she had “forgot” she was even in the movie, then later said she never got an invite to the film’s audio launch in Chennai on April 26.

The comments set off a sharp exchange on X, where one user wrote that there was “all this misogyny thrown at her” and argued that senior actors like Trisha should be treated with due respect. Trisha reposted the message and replied, “Exactly!!!” Some Suriya fans then criticised her and questioned whether she really had been excluded.

Trisha answered that criticism by sharing a post showing Suriya at the audio launches and at events for Leo, and . The text on her post said, “Trisha has never shied from promoting her films. Trisha’s track record of being present at her film’s events speaks for itself.” That was the latest sign she was not backing away from the dispute over how Karuppu has been handled publicly.

Karuppu is an upcoming film directed by RJ Balaji, and recently released the first look of Trisha as Preethi. The 37-second video shows her as a lawyer in a courtroom and dancing in a green saree, a reminder that she is part of the film even as she said she was missing from much of its promotion.

The online row also reopened an old question about how often Trisha and Suriya have worked together. When a fan asked what the last film they did together before Karuppu was, she replied, “Thank you. Even I forgot. Good to know they set a reminder now atleast.” After another user criticised the sarcasm, she answered, “Guess my invite got lost in the mail:).”

That exchange underlined the tension around a film that has not yet reached theatres but is already drawing attention for who was seen, who was not, and who felt obliged to say so. Trisha and Suriya previously starred together in Mounam Pesiyadhe in 2002, Aayutha Ezhuthu in 2004 and Aaru in 2005, and Karuppu is scheduled to be released on May 14.
