Harrison Ford has partnered with Glenmorangie on The Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition, a single malt Scotch whisky announced on May the 4th and priced at AUD$145.
Ford, who spent time at the distillery and watched the process unfold, summed up the role with a shrug: “I’ll leave the whisky making to you guys, and I’ll take care of the acting part.”
The launch puts a Hollywood name on a bottle that Glenmorangie says was made with the same kind of care as its core whisky. Dr Bill Lumsden, the brand’s Director of Whisky Creation, said, “We wanted this to be timeless,” while distillery manager Ed Thom described the result as “really smooth” with “a little bit of bite” — “Much like Harrison himself.”
The whisky begins in classic bourbon casks before being married with toasted Portuguese red wine casks, then bottled at 46.5% ABV. Celebrity spirit launches are common in Hollywood, with tequila long the dominant play, but Ford bypassed the crowded agave market entirely and attached his name to Scotch instead.
Ford said he came away with “enormous respect for the work that these people do” and that he “was proud to be among them.” That is the point of the collaboration: not just a famous face on the label, but a star signaling that he had enough time at the distillery to treat the making seriously. The bottle is now on sale, and the pitch is plain enough — this is Glenmorangie’s whisky, with Harrison Ford in the frame, not the other way around.
