The Cleveland Cavaliers visit Scotiabank Arena on Friday night with a chance to close out the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference first-round series. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET, and the game will be shown nationally on Amazon Prime Video.
Cleveland leads the series 3-2 after a 125-120 win in Game 5, a result powered by 23 points from James Harden and 23 from Evan Mobley. Toronto got 25 points from RJ Barrett, but it was not enough to prevent the Raptors from heading home facing elimination.
The numbers explain why the series has stayed tight. Through five games, Cleveland is averaging 111.8 points per game and Toronto 111.4, with both teams shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc. Toronto holds the edge in several hustle categories, averaging 26.4 assists, 13.8 fast-break points, 42.2 rebounds and 22.2 points off turnovers per game, while Cleveland has averaged 20.8 assists, 5 fast-break points, 40.2 rebounds and 15.8 points off turnovers.
Toronto is also dealing with health concerns that could shape the night. Ingram left Game 5 with heel inflammation and is listed as day-to-day, while Immanuel Quickley remains out of the Raptors rotation because of a hamstring injury. Even so, Scottie Barnes and Barrett are both averaging more than 24 points in the series, which is part of why Toronto has been able to keep pace despite the injuries and the deficit.
This game is the kind that can turn on one possession, one rebound or one shot from deep. Cleveland has the series lead and the cleaner path, but Toronto’s production at home and its need to extend the season make Game 6 the one that decides whether this matchup goes on or ends Friday night.
