Tesla has updated its North American online configurator to add Frost Blue and Marine Blue exterior paint options to the Model 3 and Model Y, bringing two previously region-locked colors into the market at once.
Marine Blue, which had been limited to Europe and Asia-Pacific, is now available on Model 3 and Model Y rear-wheel drive and AWD Premium trims for a $1,000 USD premium. Frost Blue, once reserved for the Model S and Model X, has moved down to Model 3 and Model Y Performance, where Tesla is not charging extra in North America because current promotions already include all exterior and interior color options.
The move extends Tesla’s list of blue finishes on its two high-volume models, after earlier offerings that included Glacier Blue, Deep Blue Metallic, Abyss Blue and Frost Blue. Tesla is also leaving one regional color behind: Glacier Blue remains limited to buyers in Asia-Pacific markets. Standard, non-Premium versions of the Model 3 and Model Y still have only three paint choices — Stealth Grey, Pearl White and Diamond Black.
Frost Blue was available on the Model S and Model X from June 2025 to April 2026, and now it is turning up on the Model 3 and Model Y Performance as Tesla reshuffles its paint lineup across North America. The timing matters because the company is now using its configurator to sort not just style options, but market-specific logistics and pricing rules.
Those rules are clearer in Canada. Model Y Performance buyers there cannot currently select Frost Blue because Tesla is importing the vehicle directly from Gigafactory Berlin, and those buyers are instead offered Marine Blue as an included, zero-dollar option on imported Performance units. The Canadian Model 3 Performance is unaffected by that tariff logistics and continues to be imported from the United States, which means it still has access to Frost Blue.
For buyers, the new colors add choice, but not uniform choice. Tesla’s update gives the North American market two more paint options, yet the fine print still depends on trim, country and factory source — a reminder that even a color change can expose how the company is moving cars around the world.
