The Chicago Bulls hired Bryson Graham as their next lead basketball executive on Monday afternoon, and the move may already be pointing toward a familiar name on the sideline. Tom Thibodeau, who coached in Chicago before, is a free agent and could be open to a Bulls reunion if Graham reaches out, according to a report.
Graham is among the publicly known finalists for the job and does not turn 40 until later this year. The Bulls still need to find a head coach who can help bring his vision to life, which makes the search more than a routine staffing move.
Thibodeau is 68 and, according to Sam Amick, still intends to keep coaching. Amick said Thibodeau would have an interest in a Bulls reunion if new front office leader Bryson Graham approached him, a detail that fits the sense that Chicago’s hire could signal a new direction.
That possibility also carries a built-in tension: Thibodeau is older, available and familiar with the city, but the Bulls are trying to build around a younger executive whose arrival suggests a fresh start. If Chicago wants a proven coach who already knows the market, the next call Graham makes could shape the direction of the franchise before the roster does.
